Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information NepaliMoviesDB collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• Account details: your username, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash, so nobody at NepaliMoviesDB can read them.
• What you add: your ratings, reviews, review votes and watchlist, and, for Pro members, the people and titles you track.
• Pro membership and payments: your membership dates and payment records (plan, amount, date and the eSewa transaction reference). You pay on eSewa's own website; we never see or store your eSewa ID, password, PIN or card details.
• Profile claims: if you claim a person's profile, the message you send us and the changes you make to that profile.
• Messages: what you send through the contact form, including your name and email address.
• Page views: we count how often each film and person page is viewed, to show what's popular. These counts are not linked to you.

How we use it

We use your information to run your account and the features you use, show the reviews and ratings you choose to publish, process Pro memberships and send receipts, send emails you ask for (such as password reset links), answer your messages, and keep the site secure and free of abuse.

We don't sell your personal information.

What's public

Your username and your reviews are public. Your ratings are combined into each title's average score. Your email address, watchlist, tracked items and payment records are never shown publicly.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie that keeps you signed in and protects our forms from misuse. It is deleted when you close your browser. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies of our own.

Advertising partners shown on the site may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. Pro members don't see ads.

Other services we use

• Google Fonts supplies the fonts, and TMDB some of the posters and photos.
• YouTube plays trailers, in its privacy-enhanced mode.
• eSewa handles payments.
• Emails are sent through our email provider.

When your browser loads content from these services, they receive your IP address and browser details.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. Payment records are kept for as long as we need them for accounting. Contact messages are deleted when we no longer need them. Password reset links stop working after one hour.

Your choices

You can change your password on your Account page, edit or delete your reviews, and change or remove your ratings at any time. To get a copy of your data, correct it or close your account, contact us at contact@nepalimoviesdb.com. We'll reply within 30 days.

Children

NepaliMoviesDB is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When our practices change we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
